Ukrainian media art - from videocracy to media diversity
Introduction - short description of the Ukrainian media art.
Superiority of video art, comparative underdevelopment of electronic art.
Early 90s - first video experiments, documentation of performances, imitation of movies, home video stylistics. Late 90s - prosperity of video-art in Ukraine. Found footage esthetics - mostly because of the lack of equipment, than due to the conscious reflections on the nature of video narration. Exclusions - Kulchitsky/Chekorsky ("New York, New York", "Screen Copy", etc.), Olga Soloviova ("TV-terrorists"), Vasiliy Tsagolov ("Solid Television" conception).
Young Kiev video of the late 90-s. More active application of the non-linear editing and special effects (Ilya Isupov).
Causa proxima - opening of the Info Media Bank Program at the Center for Contemporary Art with modernly equipped Media Lab. Internet and CD-ROM workshops, organized by the Program. Projects, created during workshops.
First Kiev International Media Art Festival as logical continuation of the program activity.
