Kathy Rae Huffman Kathy Rae Huffman is Associate Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Department of Art, where she directs the undergraduate program EMAC (Electronic Media Arts and Communication). She is a curator, writer and online networker. She is curator for the 6th annual Computer Arts Festival, Maribor, Slovenia (May 23-27, 2000) and was guest curator for "e-FUSION", the 3D online exhibition for the SEAFair Festival (October 1999), Skopje, Macedonia. She is the co-chair for VRML-ART From 1991-98, Huffman was based in Europe, where she lectured extensively on Internet art, art video, interactive TV, and the history of artists and TV. She curated media programs for the Steirischer Herbst, Graz; Ars Electronica, Linz; and Telepolis, Luxembourg. She was correspondent for Telepolis online magazine, the international journal for net culture, for the column pop~TARTS. Together with Eva Wohlgemuth (Vienna), Huffman realized two Internet communication works investigating communication between women, on-line and in real life: Siberian Deal and Face Settings. She established FACES, an international mailing list: a discussion forum for women artists working with media. Martin Schmitz Martin Schmitz is technical director of Van Gogh Television. VGTV is responsible for creating significant interactive communication projects for television and Internet since 1986. VGTV is a flexible collective, an international association of artists, technicians, programmers and curators working between high tech prototypes and off-the-shelf comsumer products. Known around the world, VGTV has a longstanding association to Austria through the Ministery of Culture for Art, Vienna, and for their commisioned projects at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz. Schmitz has developed the Virtual Museum System, a relational data base which houses VRML-ART. He is the technical director, and technical lecturer for the Media Class at the University für Bildenen Kunste Wien. He is a specialist in interactive interface design, multimedia, and network multi-user platforms.
